I went and tried some different combinations as the problem obviously had to do with the HASP drivers. This was done on a Windows XP servicepack 2 system, I have no access to a Vista system Below is the readme.txt file with the additions I made (at the bottom) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) Install Mastercam X4, select Sim Type > NetHASP 2) Run "mastercam_x4_nethasp_crk.exe", browse to <mastercam X4 progdir\mastercam.exe> click Start > OK 3) If you have got Mastercam X3 installed as Sim Type > HASP you need to delete old dump from Windows Registry! Delete Registry Entry [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\NEWHASP\Services\Emulator\HASP\Dump\584B4AE9] 4) Run "mastercam-dealer-unlim.reg" to use Mastercam with Delear type of license or "mastercam-industrial-unlim.reg" to use it with Industrial type of license I selected:"mastercam-industrial-unlim.reg" 5) If you have "USB-Emulator" already installed just restart (or reboot a computer) it so it can read a new dump 6) If you have no USB-Emulator installed you need to install it. For more infor see "USB-Emul Win32 Setup" or "USB-Emul Win64 Setup" next That's all.. Enjoy __________________________________________________________________ USB-Emul Win32 Setup 1) Open folder "USB-Emul_Win32" and run "install.bat" 2) Wait until system will find and install new devices __________________________________________________________________ USB-Emul Win64 Setup You need a local Administrator rights to install this emulator for Win64! 1) Start -> Control Panel -> Add Hardware (Yes, I have already connected the hardware) -> Add a new hardware device -> Install the hardware that I manually select from a list -> Show all Devices -> Have disk -> Browse -> (browse to folder "USB-Emul_Win64") Confirm to install not certificated drivers if Windows ask for.. 2) If setup is succesfull you have to see new system device Device Manager -> System devices -> Virtual Usb Bus Enumerator 3) Reboot!!! __________________________________________________________________ Now you still may end up with the NO SIM message Below worked for me on a Windows XP servicepack 2 system - From the created entry "MasterCam X4" in "Programs" run Hasp Setup - Then select: NHasp X When the NHasp X screen appears select: NetHASP and Local Select Read (and you will see the entries filled). - Now you can start mastercam (This worked for me) -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Now you can start mastercam (This worked for me) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I test and this procedure solve my "No SIM" problem Now I have working Mastercam x4.

Sorry I misunderstood, yes that unpacked the ISO...THX... I'll see if I can get ahold of SW. If anyone could post the stand alone (non plug-in) version it would be much appreciated.

If anyone could post the stand alone (non plug-in) version it would be much appreciated. Here's the emulator for Mastercam X4 MU3, the SW can be DL from their website. http://www.filefactory.com/file/b1765gf/n/mc_x2-x4mu3_win32_win64_nethasp_crack.rar Saludos Posted on: May 03, 2010, 11:06:31 23:06 - Automerged
Jesse, do I run the stuff from this RAR before or after running mastercamx4-mu3-web.exe? (before or after installing MC)
Hi Redhouse The RAR contains just the emulator, follow this steps to install: 1 Install Mastercam X4, when asked select NetHasp 2 Install Mastercam X4 MU3 update 3 Unpack RAR to a folder ( no needed but easier to use ) 4 Install Mastercam Key in Register ( included in Emulator folder ) 5 Install Emulator ( run Install.bat from emulator folder ) and that's it, Mastercam is ready to use. Saludos

Just so I am clear on this, are you sure about step-2? I was reading on their website ( http://www.mastercam.com/Support/Downloads/MastercamX4/Default.aspx) that you have to have a valid mantainance lic to install MU3: "If your maintenance contract has expired prior to the date of the release, then you will not be able to run that Maintenance release." I just want to be clean in my own mind what steps to take in proper order, thanks.

Yes when you install software, you have NO maintenance contract. That's why the patch/crack Well Duh, that's not what I mean't, I thought I was clear it was the sequence I was inquiring about, sorry I'll try to be more clear. The above had a typo "...to be clean in my own mind" should have read "to be Clear in my own mind". I was just uncertain because the MU3 said it wouldn't install w/o "something" in place prior to trying. Posted on: May 05, 2010, 12:52:29 00:52 - Automerged

Did all that exactly, it didn't work. Untill... I checked the other instructions readme_Win32.txt in the second half of step #5: " run "NHaspX.exe" select SIM type > NetHASP, Mode > Local > OK" after doing that it worked fine, app launched and runs. Without that last step, when the app launched you'd just get a splash screen then a small dialog box that say's: Exiting "No SIM Found" Thanks for the help all.

This is for Mastercam x64 X6 MU2 or MU3 ( as the exe didn't change between updates) . Just replace the Mastercam.exe with one provided and enjoy. No USB Dongle emulator is needed , although it should also work with an EMU installed as the emu/registry check is patched as well.
This is just a patched .exe, the full installation and MU's are available directly from Mastercam under "support/downloads" in the X6 section

Am i right in the assumption that the base, and then each update needs to be installed in order to get this going? (ie, the updates are individual, not all encompassing)

Yes, The updates need to be installed in order, they are not all encompassing. ( I did mention that in the readme) You could stop @ MU2 , as the .exe didn't change between MU2 and MU3, although MU2 was a total disaster. MU3 fixed most of the things they screwed up with MU2. If you find that the fully patched version isn't working for you, then I can provide minimally patched versions ( 8 bytes as opposed to 320 or so) that require the USB EMU's ( As close to legit as we're going to get.)( driver signing needs to be disabled for WIN7 x64 etc) I'll post both the fully patched and minimally patched MCFSW X6 x64 MU1 DLL's in the next couple of days. I've been chasing a memory leak that I attributed to the patching, but I just discovered it behaves the same way with an EMU. ( MCFSW X6 MU1 x64 with SW2013)
Cheers

on a side note, Mastercam X7, seems to run a program called "ToolManager.exe" (extensions folder), which seems to be protected by a different system, WIBU codemeter not sure what exactly its doing, do know if I uninstall the codemeter service, mastercam wont run, dll missing error tool seems to run... so not sure whats the deal I prefer to not have "codemeter" service running, but that would require some patching to "toolmanager"

Ok, I had some time to kill between planes and I couldn't think of a better use of my time than to "fix" Mastercam.... ( how sad is that ?? LOL)
MC x7 x64 MU1 w/ SP1 hotfix fully patched .exe, no EMU required.
minimally tested... ie.. no warranty will be provided :-)
Oops ... forgot to include my usual disclaimer... NOte: This is only the "fixed" .exe, you'll need to download MC x7 x64 , MU1 and SP1 hotfix where ever you like.

Figured I'd post these little Mastercam X7 add-ons here, as .. well.... they are only useful with Mastercam. ( I suppose there could be some debate as to whether to create a new topic, but the folks who would find them useful will be the same folks that arrive in this thread.)
Verisurf, Moldplus & Moldplus CATIA . They are patched to run as if they were connected to a Dealer dongle , regardless of what dongle , emu, or patched mastercam is running. ( Industrial, Educational, Dealer ,etc)
The link.txt contains two multiupload links... either one will do as it contains the same 3 installers and patched dll's
If you find them useful, great , if not ...

I have had a user report that the patched .exe crashes when using backplot. As I have far more experience "inside" mastercam than actually using it, could someone more familiar with using backplot ,see if they can reproduce the crash and let me know how to reproduce it so I can investigate it ?
Thanks

Yes, it appears that they are locking their product downloads to a valid customer account. I will say that not all mastercam sites ( different countries) link downloads back to the main .com ( US) site. ( Some host files themselves) You have a couple of choices, torrent ( a famous Russian one always seems to have the latest version) or find a non US/UK mastercam site that hasn't put restrictive download policies in place. Mastercam are doing what they can to impede piracy, as X8 is being previewed right now. Quite frankly, I'm surprised it took them so long.

This will be super helpful for some of our new computer systems. I have a few seats of Mastercam so I was able to just emulate the key on one of our computers to get it going for now. Thanks for taking the time to do all this! Posted on: August 22, 2014, 05:35:42 17:35 - Automerged

I have a valid customer account since I purchased a few full seats with maintenance contracts good until next year. If you need any of the versions let me know, as I have them all stored on my network drive.

I haven't used Mastercam for SW before. Does this basically run as a standalone Mastercam, or does this open in SW? Like would you be able to run Mastercam on its own with this version, or would you need SW for it to work properly?

There are two versions of Mastercam one is stand alone [version 7] and the other is for SolidWorks [version 8]

Yeah I was just curious because Ive always used just the standalone version and never the one for Solidworks. I have a few purchased seats of X8 for my shop, but have one extra computer I wanted to put it on, and havent found a cracked standalone yet. I found one, but its been downloading for a few days because there havent been many seeders. Once its done, Ill see if it works out.

Just wanted to post back saying thanks and to verify that X8 did work. I installed it on a Windows 7 machine in my shop and everything works great. I was going to try it tonight on my computer at home and see if it works on Windows 8 or not.

Mastercam X9 ( Win x64 with SSQ Emu/fix)
Direct Mega link
P_B... I stopped patching MC at MC X7 MU2 (x64). ( I haven't seen any full patches beyond that) That won't really help too much with X8 & X9 though. While the structure is somewhat similar, there have been a few significant changes. You'll have to patch 500 or so bytes in each of 3 files. Quite tedious, which is why I stopped. ( CRC, EMU check, Blacklist, full HASP patch ie copying all the dongle info into each file , patching user_type,maintenance_time, get_productenablebits etc, etc, redirecting dongle calls, patching various other routines .... ) If you're really interested, I'd start by debugging an EMU setup and see how it behaves. Not nuclear physics but a lot of time and work. ( my apologies if you're already on that track)

That would explain some of my issues I was having before. Quite a bit of stuff to dredge through without debugging as you said. It has to read some kind of value instead of NOP'ing an instruction or redirection to another sub... Unless one were inclined to really patch a LOT more of it than you say. 500 bytes doesn't sound as horrible as redirecting each routine somewhere else and then writing code within the executable to, for lack of better terms, emulate an emulator. Not to say x7 MU2 was just a couple lines either, however.. I'd be interested in your findings on patching 8/9 if you care to share?

Professor_Bidoof,
Yes, as you've discovered, a few NOP's here an there and patching some jumps aren't going to cut it :-) MC7 x64 MU2 patching was just shy of 400 bytes. ( that was redirecting dongles calls, building a fake dongle internally , taking care of the self protection , s/n blacklist, emu detection ( so the users that have previously run emu's .. and have stuff in their registry , don't set off the emu detection) maintenance time, etc, etc. The only reason a full patch was possible was their poor HASP implementation. Properly done, it should be extremely difficult to remove the dongle. Not impossible, but close.
Yes, it has to read a specific dongle value ( that determines many things like : sim s/n , sim type, ( HASP,NETHASP,WIBU .CODE METER etc, ) Dongle type ( EDU, DEALER etc) what level + ver is paid for/ applicable for each function you use. ( lathe_ver (ie 0x190) ,lathe_level ie 0x06) ,router_ver,router_level wire_ver , wire_level, Art.... etc all the way to CATIA ( 0xFF) stuff .. the list is long and not all functions have the same highest level or version) Millturn .. well I've yet to see valid Milllturn setup POST Module as it's normally encrypted with info on a specific users dongle.
The last I checked, the protection was now spread across 4 different files and will require significant patching, therefore you'll need roughly 1600 bytes to patch... that's very rough as I was only beginning to add the third party stuff when life and it's time constraints simply caught up to me.
As a start, you'll have to identify the dongle read function ( force positive dongle read result ) , find the function that transposes what it reads to internal variables/address so that you can identify what address corresponds with what function ( lathe_version 0x491234, lathe_level 0x491256 etc) From there you build a dongle table overwriting the transposition routine to load what you want, then redirect the program ( multiple locations as that data tends to get over written dependent on program flow. I basically just forced a call to my routine whenever the program wanted to read the sim_type/user_type/sim .. which covered paractically every function check). I used an EMU to get the program to shows me what values in the dongle dump corresponded to each function and then what it was expecting. Thank god they hadn't obfuscated the function names or that would've made life significantly more difficult. There where other things to take care of, like productenable bits ..... hidden checks.. is there actually dongle there , have I been modified , is there an EMU running.(services\emulator\HASP) Anti - Anti EMU check patches ( NEUHASP & NUWHASP reg checks) , Is the serial number pirated/dongle reported stolen, etc. ,
The newer versions have added other things that I've yet to delve into , but that will become your job. (If I recall, Toolmanager was now protected with codemeter... that's presents a whole new set of challenges) A lot of the same structure is still there, interesting comments from the authors too like " Well I came down with my Martin Blazin...'" LOL or my fav.. "Let's admit the bastards beat us " mmmh I do hope they were referring to us LOL (I might add that that's an interesting sub , by the way....) , but they 've also added more functions ( Productivity Plus) that I haven't looked at although I may have taken care of that forcing it to think it had a Dealer dongle attached... I can't honestly remember ) I'm not trying to being evasive, I just don't have the time anymore to investigate what needs to be patched. You can can of course, use the patched MC 7 as a starting point..
Have fun :-)
Good Luck

Mastercam X9 Update 1
Didn't see it anywhere else, had to do it for myself anyway lol.
Sorry SB7 i haven't had much time to reply with work. I took notes from your posts and very much so kept it serious. I really haven't had enough time to do a emu bypass so this is what i'm sharing. haven't seen ssqx9u1 yet.

Hi P_B, You don't need to apologize to me, this is your journey of self enlightenment, not mine. :-) What I provided probably isn't that helpful, but its a start. FWIW SSQ posted 9U1 ( regular and SW version) a week ago or so on a "famous" russian torrent site. Thanks for posting your work.
Cheers
