hi friends,

I had an old Compag notebook and the PSU was damage. It's very expensive to replace with compaq part.
Spec compag PSU : output 18.5v 3.5A.
On the other side I had an unused Acer PSU with spec : output 19v 3.4A.
What do you think if I replace it with Acer PSU ?
It is possible to make battery management circuit unproperly working and damage the battery?

You are lucky having a second PSU.
The voltage diference is minimal , just check the polarity and add a 3A silicon diode between the PSU and the Laptop , you will get a constant 0,6 to 0,7 Volt of dropout in the silicon .

I have two Sony Laptop power supply units both rated at 19v 3.42A same model no. for each unit.
one gives out 20v and the other 18.2v so I belive it's not that tight a control for the output voltage.
