I am looking for various projects I can build to help improve the area in an around the lab I work in. One of the ideas I had for a future project involves using a motor as a torque meter or force indicator. I would have a PIC monitor the motors current draw and using the motors torque constant, the PIC could convert the reading into the appropriate torque value. I haven’t thought out all the details but it may be desirable to monitor motor position or speed as well. Has anyone else used a PIC in this type of application before?
