Hello,

I'm in the process of making an EV2400 battery tester board. i got the gerbers from TI and build the PCB and ordered the BOM and assembled it.
the problem is now the firmware. initially I thought it would be possible to flash the firmware with USB using BSL but no matter what i do, I can't get it to detect the USB on windows for firmware flashing. in my tests I managed to get it to beep the USB connection somehow by fiddling with the soldering but didn't understand what i did and can't replicate it anymore.
So my thought are that the BSL works and the USB was close to being detected, however due to some HW USB problems, the PC kept losing the USB connection and I couldn't get a stable connection to flash the firmware. I wanted to try using the SBW protocol with the 4 pin header available on the PCB but don't have a MSP flasher yet.

any ideas which part of the build is wrong? AI suggest it could be a crystal problem or CAP problem. i triple checked everything and all seems to be in order.

In Windows(10/11) go to control panel and open device manager - look at the USB connection when you plug in and plug out your USB connector.
Whether your USB device is detected and add to the list of USB devices - you have a software comparability issue
Whether your USB device detected with "yellow question Flag" you have driver issue - replace or update the driver, replace the chip or check and verify connection (Green wire in the USB cable go to DP and white go to DN) also don't forget the GND wire (black))
Whether one wire is missing or connected wrong USB bus will show you a yellow flag with the USB driver
whether all the written above went OK , you probably have software comparability issue - replace or update the control software or use a USB monitor to verify communication.

all the best

Thanks for taking the time to help.
unfortunately , as of now the USB is not being detected at all. at first it was not being detected either but after a little resoldering and cleaning i got it to detect in an unstable connection. so I suppose as AI suggested this is a hardware issue but i can't figure out where to check/modify again. I know the schematics and PCB are OK because those are provided by TI so It has to be something else.

Reading your post, i suspect the problem may be the bricked chip which was disconnected while previous "write" attempt due to an intermittent hardware contact somewhere. Check the reset pin of the CPU. If that doesn't work, try using a new firmware chip.

Hello, No that's not the problem. i actually never got to the point of burning firmware. also BSL is separate from the main flash memory.
I'm getting help from all the community i know. so far it seems it's a hardware failure. either USB or crystal. I'll be testing crystal soon
