Hello guys, you know MPLAB X will not support Pickit3 anymore after v6.20.
But Pickit4 or Pickit5 is so expensive. (>100$)

I have dsPIC33CK series development board and it has PKoB4 programmer on it. It is usefull for lots of MCUs from microchip.

My question is, if we copy the schematics from there, can we use it like programmer?
Hex code is already shared in Program Files/Microchip folder.

What is your opinion about that?

Hello
You can easily build a cheap and fast programmer for many PIC families -> see here:

https://www.northernsoftware.com/nsdsp/brd/self3.htm

Here's a programmer I built years ago that still works fine (#post 17):

Hello, unfortunately not. The chip is likely protected by fuses.

A pre-programmed PIC16LF1454 chip can be purchased from the manufacturer's website:
https://www.northernsoftware.com/buy/buy.cgi , and is quite inexpensive  ($5).

Based on the manufacturer's information, you can easily build a universal programmer.
For example, you can buy the 5V version of the PIC16F1454 and add a GTL2003 buffer with the appropriate 5V<->3.3V power switch.

Pinout and schematics:

https://www.northernsoftware.com/nsdsp/brd/pinout.htm
https://www.northernsoftware.com/nsdsp/brd/usbiso.htm
https://www.northernsoftware.com/nsdsp/brd/self5.htm

Regards
