I am facing a strange issue with ADSL line and to be honest it's really hard to explain to the internet provider, because they have really no know-how...

So I explain you , maybe you can give me ideas.

Starting conditions:
I have an ADSL line with great electrical link....and it never loss the alignment.
The spectrum is wide and always clear.
I can provide you those info in needed.

The issue:
DSLAM stop transfering data to my modem, the modem try 10 LCP sequences then it decline the line and login again to the net.
At every login the IP change : THIS IS THE ISSUE.
I counted even 17 change in a night or also 30 in a full day. Sometime just 1 in 24hours....

The router log related to the issue:
Mar 23 16:17:30 pppd[420]: Serial link appears to be disconnected.
Mar 23 16:17:33 WAN Connection: Fail to connect with some issues.
Mar 23 16:17:34 nat: apply redirect rules
Mar 23 16:17:37 pppd[420]: Connection terminated.
Mar 23 16:17:37 pppd[420]: Modem hangup
Mar 23 16:17:47 pppoe-relay[406]: PADS packet from xx:xx:xx:xx:xx on interface vlan3880 does not have Relay-Session-Id tag
Mar 23 16:17:47 pppd[420]: Connect: ppp0 <--> vlan3880
Mar 23 16:17:47 pppd[420]: PAP authentication succeeded

I changed 3 DSL modem, same issue.

ADSL provider changed 2 times connections rerouting on a different circuit on the same DSLAM.

I feel it's related to a server on the net that enter in a black hole condition (timeout? DNS lost? who knows?)......

1 month of issue....ad it goes on....no solution...

Can anyone provide me further ideas ? I am getting mad....

take care

X!

Hello,

its the pppd-Deamon which terminates the connection.
Since there is no obvious reason, so i would guess that the
pppd on the provider site could not connect his Radiusserver
and is invalidating maybe all connections.
There is not much You can do. The provider should log/debug
the pppd to gain insight was is going on.
I had a similar issue with my connection here.
It was dropped randomly. The "normal" support was clueless.
After they asked me about my experience with their support
i was able to tell the situation again. This time they found
their mistake and now its working. Of course they dont told
me what was really wrong.

Best Regards and Good Luck

Exactly !

It is clear the question, but it is impossible to reach the technical level here...
