even a cheapo chinese PK3 clone would work (i have mine from wide dot hk and 2 years and still alive and dancing mambo). even a pk2 as far as i remember could program your baseline dspics... anyway in worst case , ast k to your local friends to program your dspic with any light bootloader available and have fun by using bootloader ... assumming that you have friends  |

I have already a programmer which i can use it to program dspic33 series.
I would like to create a project in which i will use a surface mound component of dspic33 , so i think is a good idea instead to program the microcontroller and then to soldering to pcb to have a minus circuit (part of the project in the same board) which will be able (with a change of a position of the jumper )to program the microcontroller.
That's why i would need the circuit of the programmer instead to buy a programmer.

so why not use ISP mode? or as others have said a bootloader.

I can't believe that you have written a code for dsPIC and you are just thinking this way, smartass : ) you can simply use a bootloaders, which is why people created them in the first place, to avoid putting a programmer on the same PCB, or even using the programmer when off-site. SMD has nothing to do with the necessity of adding a programmer on your PCB and not using a bootloader, you sound very ridiculous... You can even put a 5-pin header on your PCB and use the programmer when ever you want... this section started sounding like www.picfreaks.net |

Ok let us start this over, as it clearly has taken the wrong direction. You have a programmer that is working. Can you provide any link for this unit? Many(most) PIC32 demoboard also provide an ICSP port that can be used to program off board ICs.

Gee metal? Angry much? Bootloaders for the dspic33 are pretty easy to come by. I agree this would be the best approach unless you need debugging functionality for some reason. |

I think you are going in a wrong direction of putting the programmer & the DSpic in the same PCB. Use Jtag/ISP header in the PCB & and use the working programmer you have. |

Take a look at this programmer, it's very easy to build it by yourself (due to the 1 layer PCB), it supports dspic family and has ICSP connector to program pics without extracting of the PCB or Socket http://openprog.altervista.org/OP_eng.htmlBest Regards. |

You can try Pickit 2 or Pickit 3.Maybe is a good solution buy Pickit 3, is low expensive programmer.
