Hi All,

A friend of mine has this laptop in title and after putting the laptop to sleep the next morning could not boot at all. we tried removing the battery and kept it unpowered for a day to (no battery and not power charger connected) but did not solve the proble, now we are looking to put flash the bios (we think the bios get corrupt) but don't have a bin/Hex/ROM file only the WPH file from the support site.
Anyone help with a file or how to convert HPH to bin for this model?

Thanks

Are you able to enter to BIOS setup or not?

No, there is no response from the laptop. what I trying to do is get the bin file and hopefully flash the bios memeory chip.
when you press the Power swich it basicall there is the ON led and HDD led stays on.

Sometimes when the memory is the problem (that include not seat in correct), the computer will not bootup. But, may be not your case because it was run before.

Try to remove the memory sticks and plug them back on again to see that will boot. Or if you have spare memory, try to swap them.

You lost the boot sector on the disk drive, IMO. The odds of BIOS going bad are a lot lower than disk  Try booting it off USB stick or CDROM

Hi,
Tried the recommendation for the RAM,tried even one @ a time (there are 2 stick, 2GB each) no progress.

Regarding booting from another device, the issue is that the laptop does not display anything at all and could not access the the biosd screens.

hi,
long back i faced same problem with a hp dv7 laptop.no sign of even power on led .later i downloaded bios file to a usb stick ,and updated bios by pressing and holding windows + B buttons, then automatically restarted,

try copying wph file to usb disk ,insert the usb drive ,remove the battery, power card, then reconnect battery, then press window key + B button and then power on the laptop, bios update will takes place and ur system boots again

try holding window key + B buttons ,if it does not work try fn+B buttons,

We got the laptop back to live using "Rescue disk" loaded with the WPH file (from the Bios update file) and holding fn+B on USB stick. leaving the PC reading from the USB for ~5min and then rebooting it come back to live Smiley
