Searching the web for cost of low to medium volume smt assembly service in asia the only info that i got is from http://www.goldphoenixpcb.biz/hvloum.php which says the cost is USD 0.01 / pin. Funny that the cost is based on the number of pins not parts!

Anyone have some information on this?

@zawmintun1 ,

I think he is asking about the price to PCB assembly for SMD.

@Ichan ,

I search the web and it shows lot of assembly houses with difference method of calculate. Some ask for number of SMD device and number of TH device. The price is on the sky, 20 pcs is about $1500. Some less some more and also depend on other options.

Very expency???

Yes am asking about the price of pcb assembly (PCBA), not assembly programming.

Many companies doing this service and has online quote, some of them:

http://www.bittele.com/Assembly-request.asp (Canada)

http://www.screamingcircuits.com/Order/ (US)

http://www.pcbtrain.co.uk/quote-and-order-pcb/ (UK)

Attached a simple sample quote from one of them which is cheapest among three, the other two have price doubled.

I still can not find good information for asian region, hope someone has clues.

Recommending favorite PCB manufacturers was shot down by a mod as advertising.  I'm
guessing recommending assemblers is headed for the same fate, so probably best to use
Google and similar.

I gave up trying to find it.

The reason behind my question is because i am currently setting up this kind of business and now need some information to decide pricing things for the online cost calculator.

Taking the risk to be judged as an advert, here is the link:

http://www.SmtIndonesia.com

Please try the Cost Calculator, feedback welcome - it is not final yet.

Hi Ichan,

The price is very good. I really like it.

How about include shipping cost in the quote. The Lead Free Soldering and No Clean Solder Paste selections not changing in price.

I have a question on the “# of BOM line item”. Is this count for number of part or number of line? Because on a line could be 10 parts with same value (ex. R1, R2, …R10 = 10K ¼ watt) or 5 capacitors with the same value.

If you could give a low price (like the one you shown here) I think you would be success.

Wish you all the best,

Tom

Hi Tom, thanks for the feedback.

The current price formulation is a dilemma for me, it is cheap compared to other global ones but started to be expensive for local customer - maybe i have to use double standard for the price.

We will include the shipping cost later after we got the rate from DHL, some other things need to be handle before we can take overseas orders such as taxes, legal and banking thing.

Yes the radio button not functional now, can't decide them yet.

I wonder what will the customer preferences, will they send the components and pcb to us or will they prefer to let us do the purchase? What do you think?

Hi Ichan,

If i am your customer, I would prefer not to send components to you to save the shipping cost. Also, the fab house could have better price because they buy in bull. Here is a link for you to check out. They do PCB with good price:
http://www.makepcb.com/

Your price is low (may be too low) that could attract customer, but on the other hand could scare customer away because they will affait of HIDDEN cost. So make sure all price are final.

For small quantity, shipping to USA is cheapper if you use US Post Office Mail. DHL or FedEx or UPS are much higher. Lot of time when I order stuff (from Ebay, DigiKey. ..) I use US Post Office Mail; that way, the package will deliver to my mail box; much safer then the package left on the front door.

I like to see your final calculation.

Best regards,

Tom

Hi Ichan,

I just stop by your site and check the price; it looks good. Are you done with the price quotation page? Are you ready to accept order? How about shipping quote?

 Few questions for you:
1- Does the price reflex on the board size or only based on the number of SMD and number of TH parts?
2- Double side (number of layers)?
3- Silk screen (one side, both side)?
4- If I order PCB from you, what is the CAM files format?

It seem like your site is not ready to accept order. Please let me know.

Regards,

Tom

Hi,
At this prices I will be interested also. Local source of components is better (if prices are equivalent to the ones I have) because shipping can be expensive and have customs trouble.

Looking forward for your updates. Good luck to your business!

Hi Tom,

We are formally do not accept overseas orders (yet), mainly because this is still a personal business (me and a friend) - it is then related with the payment method and taxes. For local orders we have already run for several months mostly for led lighting assembly - the machine (only one machine now) can be very busy because of it.

If peoples interested then i will share know how that i got from running this system, the machine is an automatic smt assembly for small - medium volume turn key system bought new from US. I remember there is a thread on cnczone.com talking about diy pick and place machine with some discussion about possibility to do it diy way, my opinion after running this system is: YES, it is possible. I can take picture or video of the machine details, just ask.

@Codeman, thank you.

@Mods, may I do this?

Ichan,
I will be interested in knowing about your system. Where do you buy it, how much... I have a small company that does small series of electroncics. Mostly done by hand. Now orders are getting bigger, and I need to do at least some semi-automatic work.

You can share if is ok with you and the Mods, or can PM me.

Thanks

Me too. Hope you can share what's ur system, where u bought it and how much.

I have future intention to use SMT product/components. Maybe we can buy the components in large volume ( so we can get lower price/part).

You can pm me or email to me at [email protected].

Our pick and place machine is APS Novastar LS60V-LED:

http://www.apsgold.com/pick-and-place/automated-systems/ls60v-pick-and-place-machine-with-vision

NO, i am not recommending it - if we will buy another one then it will be from other machine maker. It is not bad, but not good enough, and we were got a bad technical support from them.

The machine already break once, looks like they do not want to help us to solve the problem, i have to do it all by my own.

Here is the link to some video of the machine running just after the repair, half naked you can see some of the machanical details.

http://ifile.it/vnagoxh/SMTI_02.mp4 (4.7MB)
http://ifile.it/j6gzl5p/SMTI_03.mp4 (7.6MB)

I will send the price by pm after this.
