Why is that CCS updates are release so often - are there bugs with the old versions?

It is almost impossible to keep up with the flood of releases - is CCS unreliable?

I suggest 3.245! Much more reliable!

All versions have bugs in them, as long as you don't step on it you're ok. So always keep a few versions (with the release notes) with you. Both v3.236 and v3.249 are two stable versions I use.

Darksky,

This is more like a "product life philosophy" from CCS. Yes, is true that there are several issues that are solved or minimized with this releases, but there are several new features inside each version, like CAN and RTROS routines.

For exemple, despite some bugs correction, the new 4.xxx version has a "visible" diference in IDE that seems to cause some deception in several users, but if you works in the same way that myself - using MPLAB - this is not a real issue. There are another "invisible feature". I made a test with some codes (HEX) that were generated with previous version (3.236) and in some cases there are a reduction up to 23% in the HEX size. This means a better optimization in 4.XX when compared with 3.xx.
