I need to make a source Constant Current, to unload a battery of 12 VDC to constant current. And that can be modified by means of a micro . Today use several LM338 in parallel.

Found this on the RcGroups forum. The original thread was http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=367023 but Uitgeslapen has edited his post to remove the schematic, god knows why !

It works very well provided you can keep the MOSFET cool.

I'd accomplish this using a PIC PWM circuit driving a power FET and a load resistor.

ADC to measure current (or measure battery voltage and calculate current),
adjust duty cycle accordingly.
