Hi using GSM modem is easy, all of them use serial interface with customizable baud rate, so all u have to do is designing your hardware with serial interface. and all u have to learn is the AT commands that corespond to the modem u gonna use

I already complete my final project same as your idea. my project was "Energy meter reading and control device through sms. " I used ericsson module GM 22, pic 16f876, and pic basic . GM22 is very old model. you can use benq M32, sim340, telit or nokia 12i.

hi arash_tah The following site contains all the basic AT commands and their explaination http://modemhelp.net/basicatcommand.shtmlbut when you decide what modem you gonna use, you have to revise the commands because there is some differances between the standerd command set and every manufacturer's command set. these commands are sent in ascii mode over the serial connection. Regards

Hi,
I have some experience with GSM applications. When you choose your modem take care. When I first buy one, because it was cheaper I dind't buy it with TCP/IP stack. Later I need to update a remote website using a micro and it was very difficult (I dind't do it at all). For a few extra bucks be sure to buy one with embedded TCP/IP stack.
Good luck
Joaquim
