I have buyed the  gtp-usb  Tongue, but I didn't knew the existence of the pic brenner, the eclip-se nor the icd2clone (potyo). (ALL USB programmers)
If I didnt buy it, then I probably choose to make any other of these.  I'm glad with the gtp, but now it is expensive.  The icd2clone (potyo2), can be used as a ICD and a programmer, but although it no supports as many devices (nor the others as my knows) as gtp, who works with ALL range of microchips PICs???  For the big majority of people, any of that would make the job.  But it is a please open the box and plug it and voilĂ  Grin

You  have to buy it so just buy a pickit2 from microchip because after you buy the firmware and make a board and buy all the other parts and spend all that time making it you'll be way ahead of the game-unless you got a lot of money and sparetime or you just like making programmers every 3 month's Grin

Hi,

I've built the programmer: http://www.freewebs.com/eclip-se/inicio.html
It works ok, but it support few models of PICs, so if you want to do it I would recomend you to see if you can program the pic.
Eclipse is workin on it, so I suppose that he will make it better b the time.
I've programmed 18F84a, 16F876a, 18F2550 and other ones.

An other thing, I've used similar values of his schematic but not the same an it works perfect!!!!

If you want a chip programmer I recomend you to buy PIC KIT2! It's cheaper and you can program all kind of pics.

See you.

But GTP USB (PLUS) can program both pic and atmel with winpic800 v3.61. So i need it to make one programmer for both and it also shows the device postion in programmer...

I am a user of GTB-USB PLUS,
but think that I should do it in it because there are elsewhere many note devices if I merely use it as a PIC note device.
You should think that the PIC microcomputer is used for protection of the hardware well.
I think the GTB-USB tip which is finished with a note to be cheap.

 Grin
The file hex of the GTP-USB is the same for theGTP-USB LITE .
I have built both the GTP and the BRENNER and they work well equal .
winpic800 allows me to also use jdm and willem programmer
But to program the pic 18f2550 of the GTP I have used JDM

I am a proud owner and user of a PICKIT2 after reading Bbarney's suggestion and I fully agree with him.

Would it be very difficult to clone a PICKIT2 ! after the update hex file is freely available. The schematic is available with the CD which comes with it.

Has anyone tried doing (cloning) a PICKIT2 ?

regards
