Adobe photoshop cd3 problem

I have installed and uninstalled adobe photoshop cs 3 to try and resolve a problem

Every time I start up photoshop it comes up with

The Prodecure entry point SMaPLS could not be located in the dynamic link libary kernel32.dll

I click ok it goes a bit further then it come up with the same again I click ok and then everything works fine Strange 

I have replaced the kernel file to see if that cures the problem but filaed I have searched on the net and on adobe web site but nothing

any ideas how to cure this problem at start up ?
