I like to make little things by hand. It eats my time but adds a (childish) joy. I use a slightest opportunity to make even unpractical things if they inspire me. Sometimes I motivated to test an idea, sometimes I expect a nice look or just want to try a tool that did not try before.

At this time there was a coincidence: I needed a new ICSP cable between PICkit4 and target board and I found a braided sleeve on a shelve.

All wires initially have equal lengths so after assembling they are naturally indexed.

Five nested shrinkable tubes made the edge.

The final look reminds me something...

Colored wires definitely would be sexier. But could be too sexy ;)
PTFE isolation has its advantages and I love it. Not many colors for PTFE isolated wires. That is why here they are length-indexed - shortest is No.1, next - 2, longest is No.8. That is enough at soldering time. And even more than enough - such way is easier than to remember which color is for.

To be completely honest... the same length wires twisted in one cord result the aligned ends in case of 5 wires. in case of 8 wires one wire is in the middle and is untwisted, and thus passes a shorter path - at the end it is quite longer (in my case about 3 mm for 8 wires and 1.5mm for 6 wires) that could be corrected.
