does anyone have any input on a good avr debugger to buy?

i was looking at the Atmel JTAGICE3, but this is kind of pricey.

but not as bad as the Atmel AVR ONE! .   i think the only plus to this one is more in-depth tracing.  but it is big, 3x the cost, and requires its own power supply.

i just got a usbee clone, and am happy with it.  are there any nice debugger clones?

I'm using AVR-Dragon and happy with it. Its price was about $50 a few years back. If you are going to go for a custom debugger be aware that Atmel's 'debugwire' protocol is proprietary so check if the debugger you're going to buy supports it.

The JtagIce-MK3 is only supported under AvrStudio 5 or 6.

I'd also suggest an AVR-dragon if you only need Jtag & DW
