Here is  CCS code to test the USART of PIC 16f877 . Proteus simulation is also included. Works perfectly with Hyperterminal.

To change the baudrate make necessary change to the following line :

spbrg  = 129;   // baud = 9600

depending on crystal frequency as indicated in data sheet of 16f877.
