A better choice is CNCPRO, once an expensive software now an open source project, you can get it here: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/CNCPro/ , including its source code, is written in "C", also works in DOS. Mits Saludos

As requested here it is: http://rapidshare.com/files/55297772/CNCPRO.rar Includes the exes, source code, and versions modified by some users, just needs the Borland Compiler to make mods, I donĀ·t have it at hand at this moment but as soon I find it, I will put it here. Mits Saludos

Hi all,
TurboCNC is better, stable, proven software with source codes for long times, currently running or still supported upto version 4.01.
Very long inning indeed, for the shareware software.
Glad if someone share.
Thanks in advance,
Regards, --micropar--

Mits Saludos Is this CNCPRO same as the one offered by camsoft? Got confused a bit because Camsoft ( www.camsoftcorp.com) seems to be offering the CNC PRO at their website and seems to be still expensive

Don't waste your time, people, like I did. It only runs on DOS, or command prompt Win 97. Why are you posting DOS stuff in a 5 year old thread? Does this mean we should all be digging out our 8 inch floppy drives? Please post CNC source for Win 7 and modern machine architectures that people can actually use, like:. LinuxCNC http://linuxcnc.org/Something like that for Win 7 machines for example.

Solutions, you are correct, TurboCNC is an old piece of software (last updated in 2005) that only runs on a PC under DOS. I'm sorry, that was mentioned in somewhat subtly in an earlier post. Even that old post was from when DOS stuff was pretty much obsolete.
It still does have a place in the modern world. If you have a CNC device with a dumb controller that is driven by a parallel port, my understanding is that this is one of the few options for driving it. You pretty much have to dedicate an old PC to be in the shop beside the CNC machine (you probably don't want to put a new one there). The PC must have a real parallel port, or at least one on a PCI card. USB-parallel devices will not work.
TurboCNC can drive up to three steppers (x,y,z) connected to a dumb controller (using 4 I/O lines per stepper to drive the stepper phases) via a parallel port at up to 20KHz. It apparently does have a good G-code interpreter and is still used a bunch in the real world.

No, it's not one of the few options. I know a bit about old machines and parallel ports - got one. Mach3 does it, and I recall it does 5 or 6 axes. And PCI cards work just fine - SOME USB/Parallel work, most don't from what I've heard. http://www.sonsivri.to/forum/index.php?topic=11590.msg64311#msg64311A lot of guys are doing some amazing hacks on existing machines with LinuxCNC. Check this out (it used to be a three axis machine and runs off a parallel port or two, now): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WCrqqoZkPghttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EYaM4FkASA
