Hi!

Search the maxim website for MAX232 and MAX485. They are logic to serial converters, and you may build an adapter with those ICs.

Alternatively you could make an RS232-RS485 converter with a PIC and some analog electronics to drive the cabling.  Would be a really easy project.

I'm working on my bacalary work: 232/485 converter. I'll use 2 peaces of pic18f** series with eusart (it has 232, 485 and LIN  support) and ccs compiler.

Take a look at the specs and sample I/F schematics on the Linear LTC485 transvcr IC. VERY easy to use and implement.

Z-World uses these single-chip RS485/422 ICs on their line of SBCs....
