When we use a PIC ICD2 to debug in PIC microcontroller, can we still use the portb.6 or portb.7 as I/O line??? the question is also the same for the AVR microcontroller. thanks for the answer.

PIC:
You can't use the RB6 and RB7 during the debug session.
In final version of your program can you use it for example a not so important thing: driving LED, etc
AVR:
At AVR with JTAG port the situation is the same. The difference is only the JTAG reserves 4 pins.
The newer AVRs (e.g: AtMega 88) support the debugwire. I didn't use it, but as I know it use only the reset
pin, so all normal port pins are free for your application.
