Title: RS232 to RS485 converter
Post by: Ljmnunes on February 04, 2021, 04:18:50 16:18
Hello, everybody!

This was my best friend for many years.

This week I decided to make an upgrade and make a new pcb now in SMT.

To use it with speed other than 9600 bps you need to recalculate the 555 time constant.

It was redraw in Kicad.

Enjoy!

Oooops... Sorry.  ;D

I've used PCAD for years. Today I'm retired and playing sometimes with Kicad. I'm sure I'll do more mistakes with him. :P

Hi,
this is a great idea. In fact,  i have already made one using Max491. Although i plan to upgrade the design using a number of other controller including some from Maxlinear SP338 and Analog Device ADM3068. The best part is that it has a baud rate of greater than 5 MBPS for transferring large data files.

Thank you!

I remember that I did make this project urgentely and coud't wait for new components. So I take a look arround and found theses three components.

So, I did the first version of this project in dead bug style... I used it for a couple days. Soon I did make a little PCB and put the jumpers because I had some troubles with correct DB9 connection and RS485 biasing.

I've used it in bare pcb for years intill I be retired.
