As per the image, is any operational difference between Circuit-A & Circuit-B ? Generally both switched connections are called anodes. Your circuits are equivalent.

Look at any datasheet you shall see quadrant switching characteristics and some slight differences. Probably not enough for concern with these design above.

Also be careful circuits like this do have many potential hazards. Like electrical shock, and fire hazard. I would not have used a home built circuit like this unattended |
