Title: Proteus bluetooth antenna impedance PCB
Post by: orpheedulogis on September 09, 2021, 10:41:45 10:41
Hi all

I need to use RN4871U (bluetooth without antenna because can't buy actually antenna version)
I'm using proteus , can you help me for 50 ohms trace ?

Thanks(https://zupimages.net/up/21/36/dkak.png)

How many layers are you routing and what is the stack up of your board?

Hi,
Thanks for your answer

I use 4 layers PCB, 1.6mm thin ("standard")

I did this so I suppose risk is no to high.
Notice I drew RN4871U and the same with antenna (so if I can buy it in the future I will use the second instead RN4871U)

OK, you will need the board stackup information from your PCB fabricator, or just ask them for the width of 50R trace, but if you find the information online then you can put the information into a calculator like this: https://www.eeweb.com/tools/microstrip/ (https://www.eeweb.com/tools/microstrip/)
It will more than likely be a normal microstrip trace

Thanks for your answer

I think Pcbway (China) didn't will not do this job.
On the link you gave me, they use two layers and bottom is grounded.

You don't need a complete ground layer but best practice is to ensure the ground reference plane extends by a minimum of 3H on either side of the surface microstrip trace, where H is dielectric of thickness

You should be able to find the PCBWay specifications for their standard stackup on their website, i'd suggest a program called SATURN PCB TOOLKIT, it is a free piece of software and has a ton of calculators on it.
