Title: LABs for compliance testing?
Post by: cycler on February 28, 2022, 05:58:32 17:58
Hello,
I was wandering if you can suggest a cheap laboratory for compliance testing of electric/electronic devices in Europe.
I know there is a ton, but maybe you use one that is cheap. I only have experience with Greek ones, that I cannot recommend. I've heard rumors that there is a cheap one in Slovenia but is hearsay...
Is this a Holy Grail? Are all of them about the same?

Thanks.

P.S. at the moment I have a device for testing according EN60669-2 but no matter, I was talking generally.

I don't know a cheap one, they are all expensive. I have experience with Eurofins, at least they know what they are doing, but they are VERY expensive!
I heard it's cheaper to go with an Asian lab, they can do european standards and FCC
But of course you have to send samples, lots of paperwork.

Look for companies in Poland. They tend to be cheap

Thank you guys.

I am still looking. I have a good price from Turkey with no details as to what it will cover, an expensive one from Greece but very detailed, and from Poland only one out of four I approached answered to tell me that they do not do the requested standards. That was my mistake, I didn't catch the 'automotive' part in their description as a company. But the guy was very polite and he said that they have the equipment, if I give them the standard they probably could do most of the tests!
I don't know why the others did not reply. I got the contact details from a site that has all the accredited labs. It seems I need to contact more labs.
Testing is a major cost and  these days we must reduce it as low as it gets.

Our device this time is such that we can go in two ways. We can test for EN60669-1 plus EN60669-2-1 or we could use the EN60730-1 plus EN60730-2-15.
We have the first ones but they have DRM, we can't give them to someone else. We could buy the other set as well but still encrypted and locked to one computer.

I think the lab guys would buy the standards if they were sure they can do the tests.

Well, for Poland I took a list from their site:
https://www.pca.gov.pl/en/accredited-organizations/accredited-organizations/testing-laboratories/search.html?fraza=electronic
and looked for the ones that have 'E' code for electronic and 'F' code for EMC testing together, and emailed some of them. I had no prior recommendations.

I don't remember now for Turkey.

At work, still we have not decided what to do. I will be back if I have a real recommendation for you all.
