Title: Payola for file hosting Post by: solutions on July 15, 2011, 11:28:43 23:28 I don't think it's in the spirit of Sonsivri open sharing to post links to file hosts that require payment beyond a certain file size. Speed is one issue, complete blocking out is another, especially for Sonsivri members.
I am speaking specifically about uploadbaz, which has a 200MB limit, yet a lot of huge files are being, and have been posted there recently. If people want to link there, fine, but a mirror to a non-pay (file sizewise) should also be required as a Sonsivri site policy if a site has a hard stop on file size. Otherwise, we see a bad precedent where Sonsivri becomes an ad service for people making money on setting up filehosts, setting a limit, then posting every files larger than the limit. However, I am not as familiar as most here with what are the good hosts for this? I would also consider what I would call file "longevity" places like hotfile seem to kill links pretty fast. Yet, I have noticed other places seem to keep stuff around forever.. we need to take advantage of those. Are there some suggested hosts? Thanks Title: Re: Payola for file hosting Post by: pickit2 on July 16, 2011, 01:11:25 01:11 files seem to last a long time with megaupload. http://www.megaupload.com
