Here you have all the MPLAB versions. You can install from v8.92 downwards and find the version you are searching for. Support is device specific for full emulation particularly on low pin count devices, where they provide a range of header boards. I thought that too, even the help file still says it supports. I did a test with the file from Reply #1 and it from what I can see MPLAB Real ICE should be installed by default. And the MPLAB Real ICE show up in the debugger list. Have you tried a custom install and made sure that your debugger is selected (should be by default)

I ran the installer, selected REAL ICE and bob's your uncle. |
