Title: GTP-USB Lite
Post by: greywolf on November 22, 2007, 09:35:26 21:35
The schematic for the GTP-USB Lite programmer calls for
a 12mhz. crystal. Does anyone know if this can be replaced with
a 16mhz. crystal . If so, what other changes need to be made.

Regards,

It seems that gtp firmware clock configuration and timing is based on external 12MHz. Changing clock frequency would make not to be detected by USB PC hardware (not right timing).

16mhz is not possible, see the datasheet for the PIC to determine what speeds are possible.

Normally, its a multiple of 6mhz, as the PLL can create a frequency from almost any multiple of 6mhz, and then it gets divided to 24mhz for the USB coms.
