Huh There are many members which ask me on chat question like "PIC-or-AVR" (debates tend to be very hot)
How to start, which language...

at the end I see this web site, which can be nice for first step...

While I realize I can not see links due to just signing up, I'm very interested in getting started with the PIC.  Is there another way that I may see this information?

Zokij,

Any help ?

Sorry I have some job out of my city and its reason why I cant replay before.

Log time ago I was see this website with this picture and forward info for user which start with PIC (for beginners ) I not use this because I don't need that. I try to found again project of this picture but ... I cant , it will be easy way if you write me what you need from project like on this picture (expect from project) and I will send you new link with that project...

anyway you can if you wont use my advice,
book use in order of archive from 1 to 5
and that will be your way from beginner to expert   Shocked

first  just read 1 book (not learn)   Roll Eyes

http://rapidshare.com/files/77554538/001.rar    1239 KB
link dead new at link -> http://www.sonsivri.com/forum/index.php?topic=8914.msg41872#msg41872

after that take 2 book and read only too   Wink

http://rapidshare.com/files/77554973/002.rar    1141 KB
link dead new at link -> http://www.sonsivri.com/forum/index.php?topic=8914.msg41872#msg41872

Now take back first one and try to learn 10% then use second one and from that try to learn only 20%

you did not need to learn more because anytime when you need and if you need some things you can take the book and read.

when you finish book 1 and 2 you will be ready for next step
(still not make programming)

In archive 3 you have third book and program with examples to feel all
In this step you will see how is easy to make PIC to work and later you can use this to make your schematic
make simulation and then PCB. ALL WHAT YOU NEED .

http://rapidshare.com/files/77558795/003.rar    48704 KB
link dead new at link -> http://www.sonsivri.com/forum/index.php?topic=8914.msg41872#msg41872

After third book and playing - experimenting you be ready to start coding - make program .

In second step I will give you advice to use in beginning MicroBASIC instant  of PBP because with this pack you  Learn to program PIC easily, with many practical examples

for all what you need its FREE (in the beginning you will not make hex output more as limited to 2k of program words you will need time to make that big programs - that mean you dont need crack )

to download
use Fully functional free Demo version of mikroBasic is available at http://www.mikroe.com/download/basic_pic1.php
(current build 6.0.0.0)

manual for mikroBASIC

mikroBasic manual (PDF) [1.78MB] http://www.mikroe.com/pdf/mikrobasic/mikrobasic_manual.pdf     (2006-11-01)
Creating First Project in mikroBasic for PIC [212KB] http://www.mikroe.com/pdf/mikrobasic/1st_project_pic_basic.pdf
Quick Reference Guide for Basic language [204KB] http://www.mikroe.com/pdf/mikrobasic/basic_syntax.pdf
Compilers IDE [1.92MB]  http://www.mikroe.com/pdf/mikrobasic/compilers_ide.pdf

all  of this plus lot examples and sch for : ADC , DAC, CAN, IrDA, Compact Flash, RS485, RTC, EEPROM, MMC/SD, Ethernet, LCD,
GLCD, Digital Potentiometer, Serial 7-seg Display, EasyMP3, SmartMP3 ... you can use from http://www.mikroe.com/en/download/

as you see you will have support for all in beginning.

Intall mikroBASIC

All your code which you compile with mikroBasic you can use in Proteus (hex file)
that mean you still dont need development board or programmer...

Now you can start to use book 4 and 5. And  try some project.

http://rapidshare.com/files/77555094/004.rar    1399 KB
link dead new at link -> http://www.sonsivri.com/forum/index.php?topic=8914.msg41872#msg41872

http://rapidshare.com/files/77555406/005.rar     4235 KB
link dead new at link -> http://www.sonsivri.com/forum/index.php?topic=8914.msg41872#msg41872

At the end you must make some programmer and work.
Then you can use PBP without problem

If you have any problem or question , request .... you know that you can contact me.

P.S
ALL PASSWORDS FOR ARHIVES ARE: alfonso

 Cheesy Have nice time  Wink

with all of this you will not need project from picture you will be able to make your own...

 Grin Hi MAX,
as senior member you will not have interest in this archive  Undecided all book sources ... and other stuff is already been on this forum posted, I make selection and guide from beginner to advanced with PIC because many member ask me for help to start with PIC and make some project, I make from my choice 6-7 book some with project and with source till to advanced to make project, program, PCB .... Anyway I didn`t put name for one reason, when there are name of some book or program on share servers usual they erase from server  Angry , now when some one ask me I only give link  Lips sealed . All book, source project and program exist on this forum that mean you probably already have them  Roll Eyes

or if you need any special book which not exist more on servers you can ask for that book ...

Hello zokij, I am a beginner with PIC's.  I have made a timer circuit using PIC16F84A programmed with PICBasic before.  I would like to know more about other functions.  I wish to focus on the ones with USB and how to connect them to PC.  Do I have to learn Assembly or is Basic enough?  Can you please help recommend what to do?  Thanks in advance.

Grin Hi jinrs,
first at all welcome to forum,  Wink
second as you can read at forum rules you must have more post (message) on this forum (min 7) to have possibility to see links,  Shocked
(you need to see links if you wish to use my help).  Roll Eyes
At my message before your your you will see link for 5 archive on server  Cool
you can take that rar archive which include all what you need + download all from microbasic site its free and its will be enough for all your needs. Assembly is best one but did you need that Huh? Like in making program for PC long time before some people use assembler  some C some Pascal some Basic but at the  end Microsoft office was written in basic .... If you ask way - long time ago processors and microcontrollers was slow and we must use fast code , now CPU and PIC are fast and you not need fast code, in my project some time PIC is to fast even I write code in Basic.....
That mean its not important which language you use its important how you use!
one example:
if you wish to make at your home some PC router - server its better if you found some old P3 that old one will work better....

Wink nice time and you are welcome for any question or request  Cheesy

Low frequency are much expensive than high frequency
low frequency give up slow response and high frequency give fast respone
typically for beginners they use 4Mhz because they don't use all the ports
if you use many port then use higher frequency

Hi  Wink

One solution is to use a Phase-Locked Loop, with the MAX038 or similar as the VCO in the PLL.
If you can generate a precise digital clock of the right frequency ( with a PIC),
you can use the PLL to make the MAX038 track it.

A variation is to use a fixed reference frequency, say 1kHz,
and a programmable divider in the PLL feedback to create a frequency multiplier.
For example, if the divider is set to 2048 with a 1kHz reference then you'd get 2.048MHz.

Other solution is DDS chips like the AD9851 can be driven with a PIC,
will go down to 1Hz and can increment frequency in 1Hz steps.
Actually, they can step in smaller increments.
A Google search for DDS frequency generator should throw up plenty of hits.
Analog Devices will also sample them but they are very fine pitched smd devices.

This is also how modern scanners work,
the later devices (AD9854 and up) will work to over 100MHz
and I believe there is also a 300MHz version either available
or coming soon.

Anyway there are lot variation and applicable ...   Undecided
Its depend of you what you need and what of peripheral you have... Huh

There are many book here - where you can found idea   Shocked Its depend of you  Roll Eyes

Have nice time  Wink

Hello Zokij.
BASIC is a fairly easy programming language.  I began learning it when I was age 12.  Not PICbasic but just regular BASIC (BASIC/QBasic/GWbasic... it is the original language that PicBasic is based upon.  And It was originally used for making simple computer games and such on my old IBM XT 8086!)
And so I have chosen to learn PICBasic.   Good luck!

"The best in basic compiler is PROTON IDE it has more powerful features in every aspect
On issues of power you could say:"

English also not my language but you must use here english!!!
