Hi all,

I have a generic 8051 development board with the Dallas Semi DS89C430 8051 chip. It comes preloaded with the Dallas Semi loader 2.1. I plan on replacing it with the Keil MON390 which allows for direct debugging from the Keil IDE.

My question is:

If I replace the Dallas Semi monitor with the Keil MON390, can I go back if I change my mind?

I am pretty sure I can use the DS monitor to overwrite itself with MON390. Will MON390 let me do the same and replace it back with the DS monitor?

Thanks!

do you only have one chip, to work on a project?
if I remeber right the data sheet for the chip as full details of the programer. so you can build one from listed parts.

Thank you for the suggestion. I hadn't thought (doh!) of looking for any relevant application notes so when I did, I found this:

Cheers!
