Any suggestion for design files management ?

Hi all,

I have many projects. some have been done and some projects are still ongoing.
For me, I just separate to several folders such as Doc, Software, Hardware and Tool.

I was wondering that how other people manage their files? how to group the software or hardware?

Just need your opinion.
