I am wodering if there is a way to anonymize stp 214 files for upload to 3dcontentcentral to share? Since i don't want to upload CATPart files because it is a binary format
and i do not know if there is any info in those files that could identify me.

Try to convert one of these binary files to some non-binary format and look inside with some text editor. Also check for NTFS Alternate streams of such file for hidden text metadata (use this tool http://hex.pp.ua/ntfs-stream-explorer-eng.php). It everything is good, then proceed with upload.

I modified the following lines, i could not find more identifying markers.

FILE_DESCRIPTION(('',''),'2;1');

FILE_NAME('692-25.stp','2020-11-25T14:12:46+00:00',('none'),('none'),'','STEP AP214','none');

FILE_SCHEMA(('AUTOMOTIVE_DESIGN { 1 0 10303 214 1 1 1 1 }'));

first i did take away too much and file would not load in CATIA with above text now it does load.

This file looks 100% clean in my text editor. SW2020 opened it successfully, and integrity check is passed. No compromising data in NTFS Alternate streams is found. You're safe to upload. Wink

I don't follow what you are trying to share. the files can be downloaded direct and also via mouser.

It is a free 3D tool named freecad (google it) Maybe you can use it to kind of wash your files. Just an idea from the top of my head. I have no idea if it will work at all

@pickit  i tried to get these as a 3s body from mouser but they just give me a simple cuboid. so i made extruted bodies in cad.

@ sideshow bob i dloaded freecad and it seems that when exporting to step file it changes the 3 lines of info, so it is a way wash the file. now that iknow
it is also very simple for me to edit the files with a text editor. but i now have a second way to clean/wash files.
