I made a design with lt1074 5A variant in two versions one with smd except diode and ic and the other one uses thru hole caps.
up to 60V in and 2.5V to 50V out.

Usse as is check design for any errors.

you might want to put a placeholder series resistor in series with C2 for frequency compensation.

If not needed, it can always be 0 ohms.

updated design with a resistor R3 for frequency compensation it is 0ohm in schematic use your own choosen value.
