If you like retro computing you may be interested in the Colour Maximite 2 just announced on TheBackShed forum. Like all the good old computers it boots instantaneously and straight into Basic. Unlike them it will execute at up to 270,000 Basic instructions per second on a STM32H743 processor.

The firmware, documentation and design files are all completely free and it uses a cheap ($30) Waveshare processor module to avoid having to solder the 176 pin main chip.

It supports a USB keyboard and VGA monitor using an R2R DAC driven directly from the processor at up to 800x600 resolution and 16-bit colour depth.

That's probably the best retro 8 bit box I've seen. Tempted to build one, the performance is surprisingly good.
