I'm currently looking for 3D design software (at the usual price). I've tried DesignSpark an not got very far so when I saw a reference to Draftsight free (a million years ago I was a draughtsman) and got excited only to find the free version was no longer available.

Try Fusion 360 it is a new software from autodesk - you can have it free if you register as a designer or student
