I need to tap (spy) a communication between a host device (not PC) and an Android device, how?

I am thinking about a similar way using a RS232 splitter, any thing out there?

The Saleae Logic analyzer devices have a USB Protocol analyzer, billed as: 'Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 (low speed and full speed)', though I've not tried that particular protocol so I can't comment on how well it does it or whether it will suit your purpose.

I'm sure there are other options out there, but I find it an invaluable piece of kit.

Found some info about hardware analyzer in the middle of this page:

http://janaxelson.com/development_tools.htm

But seems all are out of budget  Sad.

I am very much interested to buy Saleae Logic 8 or Pro 8 for quite some time, if only they sell their products through Digikey then i can put it on my component shopping basket in there and save me the significant amount of shipping cost + tax and duty.

Hope they have ears in here Grin.

you know you can buy them from microchip direct as well.  I don't know if that route helps you at all Smiley

BTW if you become a microchip design partner you get 45% off for dev tools like this from microchip direct.  It's a pretty sweet deal.

Digikey is the most effective route to me as they ships to Singapore freely, then from there i can get it to my place very cheaply  Grin.

Last time i search "saleae" on Digikey i found only the old product, couple of days ago i try it again and found THIS - well, sold by Spark Fun and higher price.

I put one on my shopping basket there, and now waiting for it to arrive impatiently...  Smiley

Hi All

Here is a similar product for far less cost (6.8 USD) (found in Aliexpress - not tested by me)

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/USB-SALEAE-Logic-Analyzer-24M-8CH-24M-8-channel-buffered-supports-1-1-16/32483123776.html?spm=2114.01020208.3.20.V1kTdU&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_4_79_78_77_82_80_62,searchweb201644_0,searchweb201560_1

All the best

That analyzer seems to be a "pirate knock-off" of the Salae analyzer. I have one very similar copycat one myself. However, I am not 100% sure this one has USB decoding. (I have used mine for example for I2C decoding)

Btw. The software is likely still freely downloadable at Salae's web site

I got the Saleae Pro 8 couple of days ago, but will not have time to play with it soon these days.

This one is really a master piece of electronic art, by seeing inside this device i respect whoever the creator of it and hope this one won't be cloned like their previous products.
