Most compressors in air conditioners are simply turned on/off by a thermostatically controlled relay...

Thanks. But I am looking  for 3 phase  PMSM motor or BLDC which is inside  in compressor.  Microchip have many complicated applications note for that. I want to know is it  possible to apply svm topology which is used for acim.  If yes then I will test with svm vfd.

Why?

The name of the game in compressor design is operation at the peak efficiency point.

Hence the bang-bang control.
