Hi all,
There is a new version of the micromite that target the pic32mx170 (and 270).
It includes more functions, more memory (rom and ram), still using a basic interpreter.
A nice functionality is the possibility to include a 'C' compiled function directly inside the basic code.

Hi Skarden

I've just been registered here and have been actively involved in porting the Micromite MKII firmware to both the PIC32MX470 running at up to 96MHz and to the STM32F407 running at 168MHz. The firmware is freely available in beta on the Backshed.

Because there is lots more Flash on these chips it has also been possible to include a complete suite of graphics routines supporting various TFT displays.

As the code for these is now embedded in the beta firmware it runs at full compiled speeds but still has the advantage of the interpreted Basic immediacy and simplicity.

The code to set up a SPI ILI9341 display is just
"DISPLAY OPEN ILI9341S, SPIchan, CD, CS, RESET, WIDTH, HEIGHT"

where CD, CS, and RESET are the pin numbers connected to those pins on the display

you can then use commands like:
"CIRCLE X,Y,Radius,Colour,(Fill)"
to draw on the screen.

It would be great if more people would get involved using and testing the code. The population of active posters on Backshed is pretty small.

Hello,
Thanks for the invitation.
I am used to follow the backshed forum so I was already aware about the new firmwares.

I support you "forewarding" the invitation to any sonsivri user that love the basic language.
