In my country (Indonesia), it is quite difficult to find a female engineer. Usually the ration for mechanical eng. and electrical engineering is about 1:20 but in other department such as chemical engineering is most likely 3:2. What a different condition in engineering ??

unfortunately this subject about interests with human.because all ove the boys like play the car,but girls hate  this ,i mean its about gen i think so

In India the ratio is almost equal. But mostly in electronics and IT branches only. Other branches of engineering are generally dominated by males.

The ratio may be better in many parts of the country compared to situations in the above mentioned posts. 'Almost equal' may be a too generous statement!

Alas...It is a sad situation, even in a supposedly developed country like Australia, the ratio of Female to Males in Engineering is very low, an unfortunate state of affairs as the field is not gender specific and for my money...most females are better at multi-tasking... therefore perfectly suited for Engineering practices.

Just my personal opinion based personal experience...probably not reflected by the masses!

Here in Germany, in my electrical engineering major,  there are about 8 girls to 80 guys.

Here in Hungary don't like the girls in the electric field. When a gilr would likt to learn this profession than the teachers dissuade about it. Mainly the women teacher!

Here in Bolivia there are 1 woman for each 10 male engineers in computer science and electronics. It has been like that in college as in my work department.

[/quote I think its not domination, they are equal in all, in our company the best Design engineers (Embedded field) are females only. they are leading our company ahead.

Here in the Philippines, there are many females who are pursuing Engineering... Just in our University (Electronics Engineering Dept.) the ratio of males to females is 1:1; and in each class there are about 50 students...

In Spain, the ratio can be 1:300, in a tecnic school
in the university, the things are like this; 50 girls 20 boys, in the same class

At my university in Greece and special in Crete(if you now) l there is about 50% girl  that study's electrical engeener!!!

For me it is netheir sad nor cheerful if the ratio is low or high because I think women in their physology has different intreset than men so it is not surprising to have low ratio in the field of engineering and opposite situation in other fields.
for example in teaching the ratio is in the favor of women.
