I have this Cadence Allegro brd file that I want to import to Altium. Altium can not import brd type files unless Allegro is installed. But it can import the ASCII type format (alg files). I would appreciate if anyone with Allegro could take my brd file and convert it to a alg type file for me

Hello Bob,

I've looked in SPB 16.6 for the files mentioned near the bottom of this page

http://techdocs.altium.com/display/ADOH/Moving+to+Altium+Designer+from+Cadence+Allegro+PCB+Editor#_Using_ASCII_Conversion_to_Import_Without_Allegro

but I can't find them. The export menu doesn't include a .alg option.

Hi UncleBog
Here is the two files that you need. Could try to follow the steps mentioned in the documentation you linked to. It looks like the conversion has to be done by using a command prompt window and not the export menu

Try this Bob.
Your file worked like a dream, now I do not have to download and install Allegro. Save me a lot of  work/hassel. By the way was the description from Altium accurate?

Worked without a problem.
