Dear all,

I am looking for service manual for Altec Lansing 2.1 speaker system model VS2421.

It is a system with total 28W RMS audio, 5.25" subwoofer 14W and two 2.5' satellites each of  7 W

Mine has gone faulty and I have no Altec lansing service center nearby.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Best regards.

I finally managed to repair the system. Just posting this hoping  someone may find it useful.
The system went faulty probably due to some surge (during ignition) when I tried to adapt it as a car audio system using the 12V supply from the car battery. The Altec Lansing 2.1 uses MC4558 dual opamp in the preamp stage, two TL074 quad opamps to implement the active filters and two TFA9842J ICs as power amps to drive the satellites and the subwoofer.
I found that the power amp IC driving the subwoofer had broken into pieces and the preamp chip also had a crack on it. The power supply DC was dropping to 6V due to the shorting in these chips. I managed to get the preamp chip from Element14 and the power amp chip from a Chinese ebay seller. It took almost two months to get these. Finally, after replacing these two, I am happy to see that the system is back to life.

Best regards.
