I need your advice, i need a war machine for 2000euros max

I bought four Dells at once from their business site - ALL of them were failing power adapters several times (out of warranty of course) and I had to replace the power connectors on three of the mobos.

Dell, Toshiba (extremely slow, even when I replaced Vista with Win 7), and Lenovo are on my blacklist. Just like smartphones, it seems impossible these days to find a manufacturer with a product that works well. It's all about grabbing the money and running away.

I have different experience. Toshiba Satellite A35 lasted 7 years. About right.
Many Dell Inspiron I have are still fine after 7 to 8 years. Battery needs change after 3~4 years. Battery works like tires. Can't blame them for that. No power adapter issue in my case.
Alienware 18 cost me a fortune. Some people may think it's overkill and over-spent. It's running reliably for me with less wait. Suit my need just fine.

Lenovo makes solid product. They inherit that nicely from IBM. Don't have good experience with hp. CPU is 2.6GHz. Not even 3. That's limiting.

My bit of advice : extend your vision.
Do you recall how many times you needed to look at datasheets while you are doing schematics of a circuit? , how many times you needed to look at schematics while placing / modifying your PCB layout, how many times you needed to look at your code while simulating a circuit?
The answer is multiple monitors, windows support it as Plug’play, bay yourself 2 high end 24” HD monitors,  put one in your home and the other at your office, double your vision and get rid of switching screens. I did that long time ago and have saved myself a great deal of time.

yes, i agree with you multiple monitors is a must (but not included in the budget so i can borrow a cheapo screen or even a fuctards videoprojector ^^) 
Update:  i'm in holidays time so no news of the machine till one or 2 weeks   i hope in the meantime the thinkpad will be released   ...
