I have been looking for a more efficient way to generate mechanical work from low temperature heat sources such as non-imaging solar collectors.

There is quite a lot of information on Organic Rankine Cycle systems but very little on the Kalina cycle.

From the limited information I have been able to Google, the Kalina cycle is 50-60% more efficient than an ORC device below 150 degrees C.

This was using the Ammonia/Water binary working fluid.

Specifics seem to be in short supply and I would appreciate input from anyone with practical knowledge of the Kalina cycle.

Thanks.
