Hi,
Recently, I realized this handy tool. It works great, and this forum is not even mentioned. It would be a shame not to mention in this helpful diagram. I built version 3.1b
Feature list:
Support for many serial protocols with line levels of 0 - 5.5 volts:

        1-Wire
        I²C
        SPI
        JTAG
        Asynchronous serial
        MIDI
        PC keyboard
        HD44780 LCD
        2- and 3-wire libraries with bitwise pin control
        Scriptable binary bitbang, 1-Wire, I2C, SPI, and UART modes

Other capabilities:

        0 - 6 volt measurement probe
        1 Hz - 40 MHz frequency measurement
        1 kHz - 4 MHz pulse-width modulator, frequency generator
        On-board multi-voltage pull-up resistors
        On-board 3.3 volt and 5 volt power supplies with software reset
        Macros for common operations
        Bus traffic sniffers (SPI, I²C)
        A bootloader for easy firmware updates
        Transparent USB -> serial mode
        10 Hz - 1 MHz SUMP compatible low-speed logic analyzer
        AVR STK500 v2 programmer clone
        Supported in AVRDude programmer
        Scriptable from Perl, Python, etc.

I modified the plate to fit into a plastic box from the SD card.
PCB was done at a friend's for a very reasonable price.

DP makes a lot of great tools. I have their $50 logic analyser and it works a treat. Plus they do free PCB giveaways a few times every week. A great company Smiley

That's a very nice form factor you created. You may want to checkout the V4 as well. It does not have the ftdi chip and uses a more powerful pic that handles the usb as well as the bus pirate functions.

I was a bit disappointed that the bus pirate does not support clock stretching in i2c mode. I have lost a bit of time on that as the i2c comm showed up faulty, while the bus pirate was just running too fast for the peripheral.
