Hi,

Me too interested in building robotic arm, I am thinking about:
  • what uC to use
  • is a single uC enough to control all the axes

No decision made yet.

Regards, Ichan.

If you like to build a 3 axis arm the following are a good (and serious) link.

Good works!

Looks promising, unfortunately not much details in the design.

Looks like it use RC-Servo motor for all the axes, for 6DOF and bigger arm it wont be strong enough i think.

Any one knows about G-Rex (from Geckodrive Inc.) for Robot controller?

I started going down this road some time ago. I haven't built a prototype yet, but the uC I've been looking at is the Parallax Propeller.

http://www.parallax.com/propeller/index.asp

The parallel processing makes it pretty much ideal for this sort of thing. You'd have enough processing power to handle pressure routines and movement limit protection etc.

Food for thought Smiley
