Has anyone ever suggested having a mechanical section?
For things like mechanical design & thermal design.
I know this is more geared towards electrical/software but from experience things like Heat always play into my designs.
Besides the engineering aspects there could be sub forums for things like solid modeling

I dont know if this community is interested in these things or if it would be a good fit. I just know that I deal with all of these things on a daily basis. It is all inter-related.

So I wanted to throw it out there and see.

Thoughts??

We have it, just not by that name.  This is about as gearheaded as you can get: http://www.sonsivri.to/forum/index.php?board=22.0

We have Solidworks, heat transfer, CAM,  etc there.

I saw that. I was speaking more on the actual engineering side of things and less on the programs used side of things. I can completely understand not having/wanting it. It is just my experience that they typically go hand in hand any more. Especially as we try to push performance in electrionics.
