WTD: Custom RF air core inductor manufacturer.

I am looking for factory that can make a custom 60nH spring type air core coil for through-hole mount.
I need about 5000 pieces. I contacted several factories in China via alibaba.com but they want to sell me something from their standard product line.
Maybe 5000 pieces are not worth their effort?

Try Renco Electronics http://www.rencousa.com/.  They are US based and manufacture in Mexico.  I doubt they can compete with China prices but they will work with your volumes.

There's always moneygram and western union if they do not

From my experience most will reluctantly take Paypal, but expect it to be a 'personal' Paypal not a company one...

They all take wire transfers, though and this is generally the preferred method of payment...

Western Union will be the last option I would like to use. At least with PayPal you have some guarantee that the vendor will not vanish without delivering the goods. I don't mind paying the extra transaction fee for the ease of payment via PP.

Please let us know how your efforts go.  I'm always interested in which vendors are easy to work with in custom magnetics/inductors.  It's a very niche area.

I duno if they will. I always send the payment to china companies using wire transfer (also called telegraphic transfer T/T), for smaller amount usually they ask for full payment (plus shipping) in advanced, or for larger amount 50% in advanced + 50% of the rest when they ready to ship it.

I can't say you will not lose your money this way, I just say I do it that way - every body have to do their "home work" before doing any business with overseas companies.

Anyway I have to warn you, you better make a very clear and easy to follow specification of the inductor or transformers you ordering to - drawings is essentials. They easily making mistakes on  it.

That is very true. Don't assume they know what you are trying to communicate with them. Take pictures, drawings and provide as much detail as possible and more.

Over the years, I had quite a few interesting and frustrating experiences dealing with China. Once I ordered about 400 rubber duck BNC antennas. They provided all the specifications as well as plots of the antenna response. This was for use in the aviation band. When I received the shipment and checked the response on a network analyzer the antennas resonated in the commercial band around 163MHz. Luckily, I could prove my point with the factory by showing them the plots of a working antenna against the one they supplied. At the end, they replaced the order and told me to keep the faulty batch. Apparently, it is too expensive to import things back into China. I offered to pay 50% of the return shipping cost, and they still refused. They said the return import taxes was too expensive.
