Check this site too. It is a parallel port programmer for both the 8051 and AVR series devices.

http://chaokhun.kmitl.ac.th/~kswichit/SPI_Pgm/SPI-Pgm37.html

And Pony2000 programmer from

http://www.lancos.com/prog.html

And the hardware schematic is

http://www.lancos.com/e2p/betterSTK200.gif

I use both programmers.

Another AVR programmer is avrdude. avrdude is come with winavr, a free compiler
http://winavr.sourceforge.net/download.html

avrdude can be used as command line and gui as well. For gui, go to C:\WinAVR-20080512\bin and run avrdude-gui.exe. before you use it, you have to install "install_giveio.bat"

Note: I'm not use avrdude very often.

Hi Everyone,
I have built a HV AVR Programmer with reference to the following web site:
http://www.der-hammer.info/hvprog/index_en.htm
Some times it works fine Shocked and in some other time it says that it cannot contact the programmer Huh. And even in some times the signature or fuse bits or lock bits it read out are incorrect Roll Eyes. i have done every thing in parallel HV mode. But the same chip is working fine with avr 910 programmer Grin. Can any body tell me any suggestion or any tuning is required? Cry

Thanks in advance Wink

Is it the same problem if you try on another computer ?
My problem was another driver which interrupted the programmer.

Hey Friends i found out the problem!!. Its due to the power supply. The HVProg works fine in ISP mode fantastically, dont have any absolute stiff power criteria, but in Parallel mode HVProg the power supply should be stiff to 12V and 5V otherwise lots of ambiguous responses came from the SW.
Thanks for your reply dear DarkClover.
