Years ago we played text games, then Doom, then Half-Life (I think) peer-to-peer using a cable - to - ethernet. Does anyone know of a shoot-em-up game, reasonable size, that I can play with another computer P2P in another state without a dedicated "game $erver?" I'm hoping there is something like Half-Life that I just enter an IP address and port of the opposing computer. As you have probably guessed by now, I don't keep up on games and when I searched I came up with a *lot* and don't know enough specifics to narrow it down. We just want to hide and shoot at each other.
(by the way - a FORTY GIG GAME REQUIRING DUAL OR QUAD CORE PROCESSORS! What are they programming with...?)
