I worked on coin validation for phone company, and I would say if you are building vending machine to sell, for your and customer peace of mind, and Assurance, you need to buy in the coin validation units. (there are many to be found with google). http://www.eurocoin.co.uk/cat_coin.cfm

Where I am the cigarette vending machines are the one that being targeted a lot due to the fact that cigarette taxes here are currently about 75% !!!
