I bought PICkit2 with 29$(normally it's 49$, but I got a discount). Do you really thing that it's worthy to build this programmer instead of buying PICkit2? Is it better?  |

I bought PICkitTM2DebugExpress in discount sale. I bought approximately five PICKIT2. Because it is a pure article, I am good. I am for ISPs, but I attach an IC socket adapter and use it. I used K-128 made by DIYKIT before. |

I know the thread is stale. (but)
The PICkit2 is a good programmer and can be had from microchip direct for about $30 (without a target board). It can also be used as a 4 channel logic analyzer and more importantly in circuit debugging.
There are also plans for several good clones.
Why bother with building less able tools.
